If you, like me, often wonder why it seems that kids grow up so much faster these days than when I was a kid… then just blame pop music.  Case in point – check the hip slapping action on this gorgeous tot:

Top 5 Favourite Music Videos

In reverse order so I can build to complete awesomeness… Enjoy!

#5 : This clip gives me shivers down my spine every time I watch it. The first time I saw it I was on a plane and I cried, seriously. It’s so simple, but so effective in taking you onto the wave of this brilliantly crafted crescendo of music and emotions.

#4 : Although no ‘official’ music clip was released for this incredible song, the images displayed on screen during the live performance of P!nk’s Dear Mr President are chilling and incredibly moving. Another one that gives me goosebumps:

You Tube in High Definition

[edit : no idea what happened to this post between last night when I first published it and this morning… youtube gremlins?]

Ever been watching a clip or video on youtube and thought to yourself, geez I wish it was better quality? Well this guy has developed the simplest hack in the world to get your youtube in HD, or as close as youtube can muster HD.

You simply add &fmt=18 to the end of the url string of the youtube url you are watching and hit enter.

So for example:

would become

From what I can tell, it makes the picture quality better and the sound quality better as well, so great for music videos… or for watching the hottest guy on the planet over and over and over again.

Enjoy!

Singing Billy Elliot

Everyone’s talking about this 13 year old kid from British council flats, bullied since the age of six because he loves to sing, but brave enough to put himself into an Audition for Britian’s Got Talent.

WOW.  He blew everyone away, it’s fair to say.  If I wasn’t at work when I watched this, I would’ve let my own tears run freely.  The poor little darling was so nervous, so lacking in confidence, I honestly wonder how much his mother had to beg and plead for him to just walk out on stage.  What an incredibly brave woman to put her emotionally-battered son out there in the spot-light like that – it will be the best thing for him to bring back the confidence that those bullies have taken from him all these years.

Every year this show seems to find a little diamond in a rough package.  Last year was Paul Potts, this year it’s a singing version of Billy Elliot.  I hope his story turns out the same as Billy’s in the end!

Side Note : how I wish Australia’s version of this show struck gold like this every year!

Jetlagged Wishes

I’ve been in Sydney for two days so I didn’t get to wish you all a Happy St Patrick’s Day… or to (publicly) wish Ms M’Liz a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Monday. So with that in mind, I give you A Tribute:

Abolish Australia Day?

Sam Kekovich has gone way too far this time…. or has he?

He’s proposing we abolish Australia Day in favour of Australia Week : “Instead of one public holiday, we need seven. Instead of one lamb barbie, we need 21 lamb meal opportunities – not including snacks.”

“Stack the fridge full of lamb, take the week off, and celebrate with me. Any boss that won’t let you is a bum. Just chuck a week of sickies instead — what could be more Australian than that?”

We love you Sam.

Hilary Clinton : PMS or Passion?

An exhausted Hillary Clinton fought back tears and her voice broke with emotion, as the strain of her damaged White House bid welled up and cracked her steely public face. In one of the few moments in her years on the political stage that her inner feelings have been exposed, Clinton, eyes moist and reddened, was asked by Marianne Pernold, 64, how she managed to keep on going every day.

You can see the vision and the full story on ninemsn.

In the past, many a joke has been slung about women’s aptitude or ability to lead a country.  Snide remarks about a female leader “bombing her enemies once a month” have been tempered with more positive and glib comebacks about females being more suited to “clean up” the state of a nation.

What is your view about Hilary’s very public break in her cool and calm exterior? Will it work in her favour or provide more fuel for her opposition? Does it make her seem volatile, or compassionate? Does it come over as PMS or passion?

I personally think that Obama, Clinton or anyone else running in this race will do a remarkably better job than George W.  Heck, a trained monkey could.
