Sounds of Summer

For the first time since December 1st, it actually feels like Summer has arrived in Melbourne.  Weird coldness and weeks of rain (and sometimes hail) have made me think that Summer would never arrive in my fair town.

But last night and this morning, they came.  The sounds of Summer.  The cicadas singing in unison.  The sounds of lawnmowers (and the smell of freshly cut grass).  The cockatoo squawking in the tree outside my bedroom.  The breeze rustling the leaves of the trees.

It’s amazing how the simplest of things can make me so happy.
